Jewelry Care

How much you enjoy your jewelry can be directly attributed to how well you take care of each piece. When you come to us for jewelry advice on jewelry care, we want you to feel confident and informed.

Taking good care of your jewelry will keep your treasures beautiful and long lasting. Preventative care can avoid costly loss or major repairs later on. Here are a few tips from our years of experience with jewelry maintenance, cleaning and repair:

  • Gold, diamond and other gemstone jewelry can appear to lose its sparkle if not cleaned on a regular basis. A soak in mixture of a mild dish detergent and warm water will help remove build up and debris. Use a soft brush or cloth to aid in the cleaning.

  • Put on your jewelry after all of your cosmetics, perfumes, lotions and hairspray have been applied. The chemicals in these products can not only put a film on jewelry and reduce its luster but could possibly cause damage to your metal and gemstones.

  • Silver jewelry can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth. Avoid wearing your jewelry while doing rough jobs or working out.

  • Avoid wearing your jewelry in heavily chlorinated pools and hot tubs, especially white gold.

  • Store your jewelry in a manner that protects it from coming into contact with hard surfaces or other items that may scratch or ding your valued treasures.
